Dr Melissa White is a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). In her private practice at Thoughtful Health she sees children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing psychiatric and psychological difficulties. Dr White particularly enjoys providing individualised treatments to obtain improved trajectories of psychological development to young people. Dr White has additional training in the modality of individual psychodynamic psychotherapy through the RANZCP Victorian faculty of psychotherapy.
Dr White's other area of interest is neuropsychiatry, which is a specialty focusing on the psychiatry of neurological problems. This includes conditions such as intellectual disability, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and functional neurological disorder.
Dr White completed psychiatry training at a range of public and private posts in Queensland, completing 12 months sub-speciality training in adult neurodevelopmental psychiatry at the Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Service. She also completed 6 months of sub-speciality training at the adolescent drug and alcohol detoxification service, Mater Clarence Street. In addition to her residency training and country service, Dr White completed 12 months of non-accredited general surgical training and 6 months of accredited general practice training before committing to a career in psychiatry.
