Child Psychiatry includes assessment and treatment of self-harm, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and behavioural difficulties. Assessment usually involves seeing the child and the parents individually and together, which often takes several sessions. Child Psychiatrists are doctors, who can prescribe medication, but at Thoughtful Health our child psychiatrists are also experienced in the use of other forms of therapy, including "talking" therapies such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), and expressive therapies using play and art. Our child psychiatrists may also liaise and collaborate with other people involved in your child's care, such as a paediatrician, occupational therapist or school guidance officer.
