Pre-Surgical Assessments

Dr Hamilton offers pre-surgical psychiatric assessments for children and adults.  Pre-surgical assessments are commonly required when a surgeon is considering the suitability of various operations and procedures including orthognathic (jaw) surgery, bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, insertion of spinal cord stimulators and for breast reduction surgery in minors.  

Generally, pre-surgical assessments require a single appointment.  For more complex issues sometimes subsequent appointments are required.  For children and adolescents it may be necessary to have a separate parent-only appointment or to involve the parent as part of the child's appointment.  Following the assessment a report will be sent to the surgeon or referring GP.
